Well, it's been awhile since I last made a post here - and that's because I've been totally swept up in this blog making process. I knew I wanted to host my site and so I created my domain on Godaddy.com. It turned out to be a lot more expensive than I thought it would be to host a site (around 100bux for a years worth of hosting with a couple perks), but the site is now up and running.
The first thing to learn was getting around the account manager on Godaddy's site. It's not too bad but there is a lot of information to take in and so that took awhile. Next was the challenge of how to setup my site to work with Wordpress. After trying for an hour or two I finally called their tech support (they actually encourage and brag about their tech support) and had a guy help me set it up. If you decide to go with this service I would say definitely get your money's worth and call them up for help if you get stuck.
Once I got the Wordpress set up I began adding content, making posts and what not. It was a lot of fun to finally start filling it out but then I was bitten by the style bug - oh noez! I felt my site looked didn't quite reflect the niche my blog is in (Starcraft II) so I googled "Starcraft 2 wordpress themes" and found a nice looking one. There are some things I would like to change about it, such as the background color and the color of the fonts, but for now these concerns are on the backburner.
There was a lot of work to do as far as switching around different aspects of the theme using the HTML theme editor. It was tricky and I had some near disasters where I changed the code and then the site came out looking funky, but luckily I made a backup file where I could go back and just copy paste the original so that everything went back to normal.
After writing about a dozen or so articles I'm starting to find it tough to come up with new and solid blog posts, but I've got my ears to the ground and my eyes open so I'm sure I'll be making some good ones soon.
